Building Research Continued.

I also looked at some futuristic looking buildings in London such as the St Mary Axe and The Shard. I like the picture of the St Mary Axe because it shows an old run down building in front of the sci-fi looking tower and skyscrapers which is a cool looking contrast. The shard looks as if it was already in the future.

Building Research

To further my research I looked at some modern buildings in Leicester such as The Space Centre, Code Tower, The Curve and more. I thought these buildings looked very futuristic and would be the type of style I would like in my city scape.

DREDD

I also watched the more recent film Dredd by Pete Travis. I liked the integration of new and old buildings in Mega city one giving me ideas off what I could do in my own work. Also I liked the use of epic tracking shots of buildings which is something I would like to achieve with this project.

After watching the film I watched the making of Dredd which gave me some ideas of what is possible for example this building is actually only 3 stories high but in the film its made to look more like 30 stories. The set is just repeated and a extension is added to the background of the shot showing more of the city behind it.

Blade Runner

For Research I have watched Ridley Scott’s 1982 film Blade Runner. It was interesting to see what type of establishing  shots were used to show some of the cityscapes in the film. Such as panning upwards or downwards with in the shot. I also liked his use of large adverts in the city which is something I might consider incorporating into my project. The film was very stylized which is something I would like to portray into my work.

New Year New Project!

I am going to produce a VFX project that integrates and match moves a futuristic city scape into real live footage making it seamless. I am also going to add some moving elements such as hover cars. A false camera will be added in post production to pan upwards looking at the cityscape.
